Medical Equipment Support System Prefabrication

Medical Equipment Support System Prefabrication

June 11, 2024

For over 70 years, Unistrut Midwest has engineered, designed, and installed proven medical equipment support systems for countless customers. But as construction demands change, timelines shorten, and budgets grow tighter, we have taken those decades of expertise and applied them to methods that improve efficiency and safety. By prefabricating multi-trade racks (MTRs) and medical equipment support systems, we have helped bring client solutions to market more quickly than ever before.

Unistrut for Medical Equipment Support Systems

Unistrut metal framing is recognized as the preferred material for architects and general contractors when designing or installing medical equipment support systems, mainly due to its adaptability.

Unistrut medical equipment support systems are infinitely adjustable and can adapt to the demanding and precise field conditions seen in hospital environments. Unistrut's multiple channel profiles and fittings work together to meet the performance requirements of x-ray equipment, surgical lighting, service columns, CT injectors, and other specialized medical equipment. At the same time, the bolted Unistrut connections allow for easy modification if anything changes down the line, no hot work permits required.

Infinite adjustability through bolted connections makes Unistrut ideal for prefabricated medical equipment supports.

Medical Support Prefabrication with Unistrut

Medical support prefabrication reduces your on-site man hours, project costs, and wasted materials while still providing the reliable Unistrut solution you expect.

Medical support or MTR prefabrication begins with the Unistrut Midwest team building your solution to your specification in our warehouse at ground level, a safer process that doesn't interfere with other construction occurring on site. This also means faster construction, often taking only half a day per rack. The racks are then fit with any necessary electrical, HVAC, and/or plumbing components, and can even have drywall headers installed.

All of the services can be installed on the ground in a controlled environment which improves efficiency and safety on the project. With the mechanicals installed, the rack can be delivered to your site, lifted into place, and connected to the necessary equipment.

Unistrut's slotted channel framing has no welded connections, so when your completed rack or support system is delivered it can be easily adjusted for any changes in equipment or room layout.  No welding means no cuts and no wasted material.

With a Unistrut rack or support system, installation requires only a few team members and some hand tools, again no welding or skilled labor required. This frees up your team's time for other billable work, a benefit that can't be overlooked in today's labor-deprived market. And, because the solution arrives fully assembled, installation takes minutes or hours instead of days or months, requiring minimal downtime for surrounding construction.
