Partnering with BAWAC for Prefabrication Support
May 20, 2025
For over five years, Unistrut Midwest has partnered with BAWAC as a supplemental labor source for our prefabrication services. BAWAC is an organization that serves people with disabilities or other barriers to employment through rehabilitation and employment opportunities. Their client employees have assembled thousands of pre-loaded fittings for us, from sorting parts to installing hardware. We are proud to partner with BAWAC and support their mission, and have been grateful for their quality, timely, and cost-effective solution for our labor needs.
Members of the Unistrut Midwest team recently toured the BAWAC facility and learned more about their organization thanks to Kathy Osbourn, BAWAC's Production Manager, and Shari Olson, BAWAC's Outreach & Development Manager.
What is BAWAC?
BAWAC’s mission is "to transform barriers into opportunities for people with disabilities, or other challenges, by empowering them with services to live, learn, work, and thrive in the community."
The BAWAC team offers personalized guidance through job and life skills training, community and supported employment services, transportation, production and industrial services, education, and therapeutic recreation, all to help meet individual needs and goals.
Their Community Rehabilitation Services give individuals opportunities to develop a pattern for adult life, to explore their vocational potential, and provide a therapeutic, transitional, and paid work setting. With highly structured and personalized programming, individuals can develop the life and work skills needed to achieve independence and participate in their community.
Life Transitions Services is BAWAC's program that assists aging individuals with their transitional life needs through social, leisure, and recreational activities in a more relaxed environment.
BAWAC Supported Employment and Production Services
Through their Supported Employment program, BAWAC provides training and assessment of skills and interests in order to help individuals obtain and maintain community jobs. They also work with Campbell County schools to train students in their last year of high school, utilizing intern sites at Northern Kentucky University.
Unistrut Midwest partners with BAWAC through their Production Services, which establishes working relationships and subcontracting arrangements with area businesses. They have provided added value and reliability to over 100 area companies through their offerings in assembly, inspection, collating, sorting, packaging, labeling, bagging, sealing, and machining.
How Can You Support BAWAC?
If your organization requires services that BAWAC provides, consider hiring their team. They also have events where the community can show their support, such as their upcoming Annual Charity Golf Outing. The Unistrut Midwest team will be there, and we look forward to further supporting BAWAC's mission.
