PREFABRICATION
From basic fitting preloading and cut-to-size channel to delivering and installing a fully constructed support solution, prefabrication can benefit projects of all sizes. Reduce on-site man-hours, project costs, and waste by beginning your construction off-site with Unistrut Midwest's prefabrication services.
Prefabrication Services
Prefabrication for even the most complex support structure starts with the basics: preloading fittings, cutting strut to size, and kitting and bundling. At Unistrut Midwest, we offer these techniques as standalone prefabrication services so you can create the prefabrication plan that works for your project.
Basic Fitting Preloading
Save valuable time by allowing our team to preload hardware on fittings.
-
Ideal for Medical support systems and Data Center ceiling grids
- Reduce onsite man-hours by using our labor to complement your own
Cut-to-Size Strut Channel
Reduce waste when our team executes basic cuts in our warehouse on all Unistrut Channel, Telespar Tubing, Unistrut Concrete Inserts, and Sikla Modular Steel needed for your build.
-
Basic tolerance is 1/8", strict tolerance under 1/16" available through a custom quote
-
Pricing is based on the type of channel and quantity of cuts: single shallow strut, single deep strut, back-to-back shallow strut, back-to-back deep strut, concrete inserts, tubing, Sikla siFramo
Kitting and/or Minor Fabrication
Minimize installation time and eliminate confusion when Unistrut Midwest packages channel, fittings, and hardware in easy-to-use, clearly labeled kits.
-
Includes assemblies with cut-to-size channel packaged with fittings, threaded rod, and hardware
-
Parts labeled and packaged for individual project areas
-
Ideal for beam clamps with threaded rod assemblies, threaded rod drops assemblies, OEM customer component kits, medical equipment support kits, unassembled MEP support kits
FEATURED PROJECT
MTR/Rack Prefabrication
By leveraging a prefabricated multi-trade rack that is assembled off-site and lifted into place, your job can go from an empty space to functioning mechanicals and utilities in the course of an afternoon. For this solution, the Unistrut Midwest team condensed 100+ racks down to four designs, prefabricated some sections of racks, and cut-to-size and bundled other sections. The client then fully assembled and installed the solutions. This strategy cut weeks off the client's construction timeline.
FEATURED PROJECT
Pipe Support Prefabrication
With advanced manufacturing projects, pipe support solutions are always a concern, and the size of the builds and repeatable components make them a perfect candidate for prefabrication. For this solution, the Unistrut Midwest team designed and assembled the supports in our warehouse before shipping them to the client site for straightforward installation. This decreased installation time and maximized team member safety, all while keeping the overall build on schedule.
Prefabrication Applications
Our team can pre-cut channel, pre-load fittings, assemble and flat-pack, or completely construct and deliver solutions for any of the following applications. We also offer custom prefabrication for any other construction challenge you may have.
Trapeze
Cable Tray Supports
Pipe Supports
Rooftop Crossovers
Duct Supports
Electrical Supports
Flat Packed Rack Systems
Volumetric and Multi-Trade Racks
Data Centers
Underfloor Seismic Supports
Seismic Bracing

Benefits of Prefabrication
Reduce on-site man hours
Anything that can be done ahead of time, like cutting channel to size, pre-assembling fittings, or building repeatable components, is done at the Unistrut Midwest warehouse prior to arriving on site. Components are then tagged and labeled, simplifying installation for either our experienced field crews or your on-site team. This streamlines the installation process, getting your operations back to work as quickly as possible.
Reduce waste
Building supports using stock materials on site can create a lot of unnecessary waste. By building in our warehouse with a full selection of materials, our team can assemble the parts you need with minimal waste. And because Unistrut is infinitely adjustable, any changes needed during on-site installation can typically be made with existing materials.
Design + Engineering
Hyperscale data centers can have tens of thousands of servers, as opposed to the few hundred servers a traditional data center may have. With those larger load capacities come new demands for data center size, design, and engineering. By working with Unistrut Midwest, you eliminate the need to juggle multiple vendors and resources. We have the team, materials, and expertise to design and engineer the data center systems you need.
Prefabrication + Installation
When every week that a data center is offline costs an organization hundreds of thousands of dollars, speed to market is critical. Prefabrication offers a faster and more sustainable solution by reducing on-site work and minimizing construction waste.
Unistrut Midwest’s prefabrication capabilities are ideal for data center projects due to the highly repeatable components found in data halls. Cutting channel to size, pre-assembling fittings, or building repeatable components all occurs in our warehouse at ergonomically adjustable workstations before being transported to the site. This approach allows for quick onsite installation in a fraction of the time needed for traditional welded steel structures, saving hundreds of man hours and streamlining the entire process.
