Can Unistrut Connect to Sikla siFramo?
February 17, 2026
The beauty of working with a modular material like Unistrut or Sikla siFramo is in the ability to customize your solution. With nearly unlimited connection points and the ease of use found with a bolted or screwed connection, building with Unistrut or Sikla results in an adaptable support structure that can be redesigned and reworked for years to come. The benefits of either of these systems infinitely expand when Unistrut and Sikla are used together.
How to Connect Unistrut to Sikla siFramo
Both Unistrut channel and Sikla siFramo are designed with continuous connection points to be used with a simple fastener, a nut and bolt for Unistrut, and a screw for Sikla. These comparable connection methods work well together, making it easy to create a solution leveraging both Unistrut and Sikla.

Sikla pieces are specifically designed to connect to strut, with center holes found between the slots that are used to connect to other pieces of Sikla. Using the same tools and screws as are needed to connect Sikla together, a piece of strut can be attached to a piece of Sikla simply by lining up the connection points. And, if the strut needs to be adjusted, the Sikla hole can be safely reused up to five times.

Why Use Unistrut with Sikla?
Pairing Unistrut and Sikla together is a smart way to maintain the modularity of a support system while maximizing the budget. Unistrut is a more cost-effective and lightweight material than Sikla, but Sikla can support more weight.
Using Sikla as the frame of a multi-trade rack or similar support solution allows for more weight to be supported and ensures the strength and zero-deflection necessary for systems that need to be lifted into place. More affordable Unistrut channel can then be used to support smaller pipes, cables, and ductwork inside the Sikla frame, providing a customizable, modular, and money-saving solution.
Client Example
Our team leveraged a Unistrut and Sikla solution as part of a medical multi-trade rack project. This application required extra-long MTRs, so Sikla was used to create the structure of the racks to maintain strength and rigidity. Unistrut was then used to support ductwork and medical gas and domestic water lines, lightening the load when compared to using Sikla for all materials.
For these rack designs, our team considered where Sikla was absolutely necessary and where we could supplement with Unistrut. By leveraging both materials, we were able to design racks that have the strong support of Sikla with the lower weight and cost of Unistrut channel.
