Helping Clients Meet Deadlines by Expanding Our Engineering Team

Helping Clients Meet Deadlines by Expanding Our Engineering Team

Posted by Mike Hoff on March 25, 2026

We are in the midst of a true construction boom, with timelines, especially for data center builds, becoming increasingly shortened. The speed at which these projects are being requested is so fast-paced that some of our clients have to begin building with design documents that are sometimes only 65% complete. With these parameters, it is more important than ever to partner with a team that can be a nimble resource, which is why Unistrut Midwest is expanding our available engineering resources.

Because clients are starting to build on in-progress design documents, they need more than just a product supplier. They need an engineering partner who can manage some of the design responsibilities and still supply the needed materials. Our growing engineering team is equipped to handle that responsibility and take it off our client's plate.

When a client comes to us with 65% design documents or a preliminary piping model, our engineering team can step in and take their system from concept to the finish line. It starts with our BIM services. Shane Beeler, a BIM Designer for Unistrut Midwest, highlights our 3D modeling services as the first step in accelerating timelines. Working with the actual building model with all relevant MEP obstructions charted, our team is able to coordinate solution designs around those interferences.

“We can dodge potential problems ahead of time using the virtual models, so we address the challenges before we’re even on site,” Shane said. Working off of fully realized BIM solutions means fewer surprise obstructions on site, so installation can move more quickly, saving time and labor costs.

Once designs are finalized, the client doesn't need to find an outside structural engineer thanks to our team’s turnkey solutions. Our team will fully own the delegated design, including the aforementioned BIM models, 2D Submittal Drawings, and P/E stamped Calc Packages. From there, we can either provide the materials, provide materials and prefabricate solutions, or provide materials, prefabricate, and install the completed solution.

By offering all of these services under one roof, from BIM designs to engineering to installation services, Unistrut Midwest can deliver an unmatched speed to market. Our engineering team's familiarity with the product means that we can more quickly recognize which materials will be the best fit for our clients. This expertise allows our team to turn around designs in a matter of days, and with our impressive supply of on-hand materials, we can design systems with next to no lead time for necessary parts. Our in-house experts can also assist in any real-time changes that are needed if priorities shift as the project goes on.

Unistrut Midwest is significantly investing in our team so that we can match the demand in the marketplace and offer the speed that our clients require. Whatever is being asked of them, they can delegate the design, engineering, supply, prefabrication, and installation to us.
